Verse 34

declared. Hebrew. parash, make known. This is the meaning of Greek. sunkrino, rendered "comparing" in 1 Corinthians 2:13.

what should be done to him: i.e. what death he should die. It had been made known that he was to die, but not in what manner. Exodus 31:15; Exodus 35:2.


Verse 35

Verse 36

as = according as.


Verse 38

fringes. Hebrew. zizith, a fringe, as in Deuteronomy 22:12. Occurs only four times: here, verses: Numbers 15:38, Numbers 15:39, and Ezekiel 8:3 (lock [of hair]) = a fringe where the threads hang down, like a lock of hair.


Verse 40

holy. See note on Exodus 3:5.

Verse 41

the LORD your God. Figure of speech Epanadiplosis. App-6. The word "Jehovah" beginning and ending the verse, to emphasize it.
