Ezekiel 7

Introduction

1  The final desolation of Israel.
16  The mournful repentance of them that escape.
20  The enemies defile the sanctuary because of the Israelites' abominations.
23  Under the type of a chain is shewn the miserable captivity of all orders of men.

Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land.

An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee; behold, it is come.
An end
This is similar to the second verse; but there is a paronomasia, or play upon words, here, deserving of notice: ketz ba, ba hakketz, haikeetz ailayich, "the end cometh, come is the end: it waketh for thee." Ketz, is an end; haikeetz, is to wake or watch.
